
Talbot County Board of Education Elects New Officers
The Board of Education elected 2012 officers at the January 18th Board Meeting. Sandy Kleppinger will serve as President and Gloria Farrare will serve as Vice President.

Tilghman Elementary School Volunteers Recognized
The Board of Education, Dr. Karen Salmon and Tilghman Elementary Principal Joyce Crow presented Tilghman Elementary volunteers with certificates for outstanding service to TCPS children.
Everett Landon is the pastor of the Tilghman Methodist Church and volunteers a morning each week in TES classrooms. He works with individual students on specific reading and math skills.
Jan Johnson and Eleanor Buck are R.I.S.E. (Reading Interention for Student Excellence) volunteers. They work individually with students reading leveled books and keep track of word accuracy and progress.

YMCA/ TCPS Summer Program Proposal
Robbie Gill (YMCA of the Chesapeake CEO) and Dr. Sherry Sutton (TCPS Tiltle I Specialist) presented an innovative program plan to address summer learning loss in TCPS Title I children.
The YMCA and TCPS propose partnering over the 2012 Summer to provide a unique 6 week academic and enrichment program.
2011-2012 Parent Survey Results
Dr. Karen B. Salmon presented the 2011-12 Parent Survey Results at the January 18th meeting. The Survey was open available on the TCPS website from November 28, 2011 through January 5, 2012. Printed Surveys were sent home with all elementary students. View Results
Milestone Communications Presentation
Milestone Communications specializes in building and leasing wireless infrastructure in partnerships with school systems and government organizations. Len Forkas of Milestone outlined the process and explained how public agencies can generate revenue by constructing cel phone towers on public land.
Milestone is based in Reston, VA and has developed and managed over 40 wireless towers in the Washington DC region. The company is approved by MABE (Maryland Association of Boards of Education).
