One to One Laptop Program
The TCPS Laptop Initiative launched in the Fall of 2005. Full implementation was phased in over a four-year period with each incoming ninth grade class receiving laptop computers.
The central objective of the program is to minimize the digital divide and to maximize student access to information. The following goals have provided direction for the initiative:
1. Increase student achievement.
2. Demonstrate effective use of technology for instruction.
3. Increase student engagement in the learning process.
4. Improve educational access for and participation by high-risk students.
The Johns Hopkins University School of Education, Center for Technology in Education, evaluated the TCPS Laptop Program each year from 2005 through 2010. The Evaluations are available below.
