STUDENT SUSPENSION (FOR NOT MORE THAN 10 DAYS)

  1. The Talbot County Board of Education believes that in order to provide an environment in which all students may become college and career ready, the maintenance of acceptable standards of conduct is required. The prudent use of suspension may be a contributing factor in providing a positive learning atmosphere within the total school environment. Generally, suspension of a student should not be implemented until all appropriate school resources, interventions, and supports have been utilized to help the student modify the behavior which necessitated the suspension. In these cases, the goal is to make sure that students continue their education, learn how to behave appropriately and correct any harm they may have caused.

The Board directs the Superintendent to develop administrative regulations for in-school, short-term, and long term suspension procedures.
