STUDENT PROGRESS REPORTS TO PARENTS
I. The Talbot County Board of Education recognizes the school's obligation to provide periodic reports of a student's progress. The Board further recognizes these reports as a vital form of communication between the school and the parents. All progress reports will be based upon full information, accurately reported with proper maintenance of confidentiality.
II. Reports depicting student progress will be issued periodically following an evaluation by the appropriate teacher, teachers, or other professional personnel. Assessment of student progress will be based on achievement of course outcomes, grade level standards, the professional judgment of the teacher and principal, and other regulations as adopted.
III. In addition to the periodic reports, parents will be notified when a student's performance requires special attention.
IV. Any change in the reporting system shall be preceded by a cooperative study and evaluation that includes teachers, principals and parents.
V. The Board directs the Superintendent to issue comprehensive guidelines to specify grading criteria and reporting procedures.
