Family Connection

Family Connection, powered by Naviance, is a comprehensive website that parents and students can use to plan for college and careers. Through the Family Connection website students and families are able to communicate with school counselors and have access to online college and career readiness activities.

What can you and your student do in Family Connection?

Students and parents can research colleges, scholarships, careers and enrichment programs all in one location. Students can also create individual plans that can be linked to college and career readiness and communicate easily with their school counselor. Parents can log into Family Connection with their student or using their student's FROG login credentials. Use the following links to login to your school's Family Connection site:

How are school counselors using the Family Connection site with students?

6th Grade:

School Counselors will complete the following activities with 6th grade students:

  • Introduction to Family Connection
  • Complete SuperMatch College Search
  • Develop a Career Roadmap by completing "What's Your Road"

7th Grade:

School Counselors will complete the following activities with 7th grade students:

  • Utilize Roadtrip Nation Interview Archive
  • Complete Career Cluster Assessment
  • Create a Game Plan
  • Add Career Clusters to Favorites List

8th Grade:

School Counselors will complete the following activities with 8th grade students:

  • Complete SuperMatch College Search
  • Take Strengths Explorer Assessments
  • Perform Scholarship Search
  • Complete 5 Year Plan
  • Fill Out End of Year Reflection

9th Grade:

School Counselors will complete the following activities with 9th grade students:

  • Create Activity Resume
  • Update Game Plan
  • Take Career Cluster Finder Assessment
  • Review and Revise 5 Year Plan
  • Complete End of Year Freshman Reflection

In preparation for college your student should also: set post graduation goals, research colleges and scholarships, us Roadtrip Nation to investigate leader's with common interests.

10th Grade:

School Counselors will complete the following activities with 10th grade students:

  • Use Roadtrip Nation Interview Archive
  • Complete SuperMatch College Search
  • Take Career Interest Profiler Assessment
  • Review and Revise 5 Year Plan
  • Update Activity Resume

In preparation for college your student should also: take the PSAT, research colleges and scholarships, take a college road trip.

11th Grade:

School Counselors will complete the following activities with 11th grade students:

  • Complete SuperMatch College Search
  • Update Activity Resume
  • Perform Scholarship Search
  • Attend Junior Night
  • Review and Revise 5-Year Plan

In preparation for college your student should also: take the PSAT, research colleges and scholarships, take a college road trip, take the SAT and or ACT, use the Family Connections website to sign up for college visits, register with the NCAA Eligibility Center if interested in playing Division I or II sports in college.

12th Grade:

School Counselors will complete the following activities with 12th grade students:

  • Finalize Activity Resume
  • Perform College Search
  • Complete MSDE Graduation Plan Survey and Post Graduation Plan Survey

In preparation for college your student should also: complete college applications, take the SAT and or ACT, take the SAT II tests if necessary, take a college road trip, use the Family Connections website to sign up for college visits, register with the NCAA Eligibility Center if interested in playing Division I or II sports in college, apply for scholarships.
