TCPS Continues Support for Project Purple

Talbot County Public Schools is proud to renew our support of Talbot Goes Purple. We realize that is essential for our community to work collaboratively to build upon the impact that began with the first lighting of the Talbot County Courthouse in September 2017.

TCPS Continues Support for Project Purple

Screen Shot 2019-09-17 at 9.31.06 AM.pngTCPS will continue the conversation about the dangers of substance abuse and opioid addiction and it’s impact on our families.   We have expanded our wellness curriculum to include more awareness and prevention, and will continue to promote our “Purple Clubs” for students.  The clubs encourage students to stand together against the risks and dangers associated with drug and alcohol use, understand the signs and symptoms of use/abuse, and develop the skills to resist drugs and alcohol.  Our schools will again hold a series of “Purple Games” as we utilize the platform of our athletic fields to further educate our community.

As a District, we will celebrate “purple days” during which staff show their support by wearing their Talbot Goes Purple gear.   We will also continue our work with Community Partners to bring guest speakers highlighting the importance of child wellness and substance use and abuse prevention.   We are very proud of the expansion of the Purple project into our neighboring counties, and grateful to The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and the Tidewater Rotary for their passionate commitment to this important campaign.

Kelly L. Griffith, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
