Immersive Learning Through Virtual Reality
The Oculus Go Virtual Reality (VR) Goggles take learning to a whole new level. VR is an interactive and immersive teaching method that uses technology to provide virtual scenarios to simulate situations. Students can interact with monarch butterflies on their migration south. They can investigate Jane Goodall’s base camp while hearing her talk about her research with chimpanzees. They can visit places around the world. It really brings the outside world into the classroom. This is an exciting educational tool that motivates children to learn. By purchasing a class set, I will be able to use them for all of my classes. An example of immersive learning will include exploring the solar system using virtual reality on their spacecraft, while reading facts or listening to the presenter they will be compelled to reach out and touch what they see. I expect students to want to learn the curriculum and have more experiences than I can offer. Through the virtual science and social studies apps the world will literally be at their fingertips!
