VISITORS TO THE SCHOOLS
I. The Board and staff encourage parents, members of the community and other interested persons to visit the schools, and extend a special invitation during such observances as American Education Week and other special days as planned by the school community.
II. The school principal is responsible for the school’s supervision and administration. Visitors may include parents or guardians of pupils, interested citizens, invited speakers, central office and other school system staff personnel, maintenance and repair people, salesmen, agents, representatives of the new media, representatives of law enforcement agencies and other public agencies, and others.
III. The Superintendent is authorized to establish such regulations as will:
- Encourage visits to observe our schools;
- Insure minimum interruption of the regular school program;
- Protect the rights of students and staff;
- Channel expressions of approval as well as constructive suggestions to the board;
- Provide for hospitality for visitors as appropriate.
IV. ALL VISITS TO A SCHOOL SHALL BE ARRANGED THROUGH THE OFFICE OF THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, AND ALL VISITORS SHALL PROCEED FIRST TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE.
VISITORS SHALL NOT SOLICIT OR OFFER FOR SALE ANY WARES, ARTICLES, STOCKS, INSURANCE, OR OTHER ITEMS OR SERVICES ON SCHOOL PREMISES, UNLESS WRITTEN PERMISSION IS FIRST OBTAINED FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT OR DESIGNATED REPRENTATIVES, PROVIDING THAT SUCH PERMISSION IS ALSO APPROVED BY THE APPROPRIATE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR.
V. Access of employee organization officers, members and/or other representatives to employees and school system work locations during work hours of employees shall be subject to regulations prescribed by the Superintendent.
VI. No person shall willfully disturb any public school or public school meeting. Violators will be subject to arrest.
