CURRICULUM ADOPTION

  • All programs and course offerings will be submitted by the Curriculum Supervisor and reviewed by the superintendent, who will then make recommendations regarding their adoption to the Board. All courses must meet or exceed guidelines established by the state department of education.
    • Criteria by which the Board will judge the acceptability of a new program or course offering include, but will not be limited to, the following questions:
      • Does it have direct relevance to the educational goals of the system?
      • Have the objectives of the program course been clearly specified?
      • Has it been thoroughly studied and/or tested by the staff?
      • Have the costs of implementation been reviewed?
      • Does it reflect research-based best practices to insure student learning?
      • Does it meet the needs of the Bridge to Excellence Comprehensive Master Plan?
      • Does it meet Universal Design of Learning (UDL) expectations?
  • The appropriate curriculum Supervisor will present all new programs and course offerings to the Elementary and Secondary administrative teams, prior to submission to the Superintendent of Schools and presentation to the Board of Education.
