We are pleased to share the Superintendent's Weekly Update for September 25, 2025, linked here: https://secure.smore.com/n/ndh3m

Good afternoon EES families. Today your student will bring home their MCAP (Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program) scores from the 2024-2025 school year. This report shows the level of proficiency your student scored on the MCAP assessment. You should receive two documents one for ELA (reading) and one for Math. If your student was not here at EES last year you may not receive the scores, or if your student was new to us at EES last year you may only receive a math score. If you have any questions please reach out. Thank you.

Please see below regarding attendance.
Hello Families!
I am the school counselor this year for 4th and 5th grades. I am looking forward to working with your child and am confident it will be a great school year!
Your child’s attendance in school is vital to their success. It is important for your child to be in school and learning every day.
I will outline below important information about the TCPS attendance policy.
Students will only be excused from school for the following reasons: illness of student, doctor, dentist, and therapist appointments for the student, death in the family, or the child needs to appear in court. In order for these absences to be excused, students must bring in a parent or doctor’s note within 5 days of the absence stating one of the above reasons for the student being absent. Please remind your child to turn the note in. 🙂
Families may submit 10 parent notes per school year. After 10 parent notes, students will be required to submit doctors notes for all absences. Any time a note is not received, the absence will be considered unexcused.
If a student reaches 3 unexcused absences, you will receive a letter in the mail with a copy of attendance policy 10.2.
Once a student has 5 unexcused absences, you will receive a second letter in the mail and we will need to set up a conference with the parent, school counselor, a school administrator, and a representative from Student Services. In addition, your child will be referred to the school MTSS team and require doctor’s notes for any future absences.
If a student reaches 10 unexcused absences, an attendance referral will be submitted for your child to Student Services and Student Services will determine the next appropriate steps.
Please also note that latenesses and early dismissals without notes count towards students’ unexcused absences.
If you have any questions regarding the TCPS attendance policy, please feel free to reach out to me at the number or email address below. You can also find attendance policy 10.2 on the TCPS website.
I look forward to working together to ensure the success of your child at EES!
