Congratulations to Ms. Katherine Posey, kindergarten teacher at Tilghman Elementary, for being honored with the TCPS Education Foundation Teacher of the Month Award! In her first year at TES, Ms. Posey has quickly become an important part of the school community. She has built strong relationships with her students and their families and has created a classroom where our youngest learners feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school each day. She understands the importance of the early childhood years and works to foster curiosity and a love of learning in her classroom. Ms. Posey recently represented Tilghman Elementary at the February Board of Education meeting, where she shared how she works with her mentor and uses student data to plan intentional instruction that meets the needs of her learners. She deeply knows her students and advocates for the supports they need to be successful. Her work reflects a strong commitment to her students, their families, and the Tilghman Elementary community.

We are so lucky to have you, Katherine, thank you for your hard work every day!!

Yello and Navy Blue graphic - that says Virtual Instruction, February 23, 2026

We are monitoring a winter storm forecasted to impact our area this weekend (February 21-22, 2026). TCPS will watch conditions closely and keep you informed of any changes. Weather-related updates will be provided through the TCPS app, social media platforms, email, phone system, and website. At this time, no decision has been made about school closure.

We have already used all of the built-in inclement weather days in our school calendar. Should the weather conditions lead to closing schools on Monday, February 23, we will implement our Virtual Day Instruction Plan, which is attached. Devices will be sent home with all students in grades 1-5 today, Friday, February 20 so we have the option to move to virtual instruction if needed.

We appreciate your support as we navigate the uncertainty of this weather event and make the necessary decisions to ensure the safety of our staff and students.

This February, TCPS recognizes the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, initiated in 1926 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson. We honor the achievements, resilience, and lasting contributions of Black leaders and changemakers who have shaped our schools, communities, and nation. This year's theme, "A Century of Black History Commemorations" highlights a 100-year legacy of documenting, honoring, and promoting the contributions of Black people to American culture.
